At any given time, there are approximately 13,000 Michigan children in foster care due to abuse or neglect. These children came into the system at no fault of their own. If you have a heart for children in care, but have decided foster parenting is not right for you or your family at this time, there are still ways you can help.


  • Mentoring a child through Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
  • Providing job opportunities for older youth
  • Donating school supplies (books, pencils, crayons, graphing calculators, folders, etc.)
  • Buying birthday cakes for children in foster care
  • Encouraging others to become foster parents
  • Providing pre-packaged or catered meals for foster parent meetings/trainings
  • Covering the cost of a prom dress or suit
  • Providing financial assistance for field trips

  • Provide gas cards for biological parents trying to reduce barriers to having their child return home
