Topic: Period of Purple Crying for Home Visitors
Description: The Period of PURPLE Crying is an evidenced based Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head trauma (SBS/AHT) prevention program developed by National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. The program provides tools for educating parents and caretakers on normal infant crying, the most common trigger for shaking an infant. When parents and caregivers are able to understand and manage this early crying period, they are less likely to shake a baby out of frustration and anger. Join us to learn about the program, how to support caregivers in their understanding of infant crying as a trigger for shaken baby syndrome and strategies to help cope and sooth a crying infant.
Who should attend: human service professionals, early childhood educators, interested community members, anyone who works with new mothers.
Social Work and MCBAP CEUs available for $8. The training is free for those who do not need CEUs. The CEU fee is refundable if cancelled within two days of the event minus the eventbrite fee. Scholarships available for those who live and work in Ottawa county. Please email email@example.com to request a scholarship.
