growing together: a circle of somebody-ness
January 14, 2027 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Join Arbor Circle for Growing Together: A Circle of Somebody-ness. This free annual community event honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and celebrates the power of connection, service, and community.
This year’s keynote, presented by Dr. Anissa Eddie, PhD, MSW, will focus on healthy racial identity development in early childhood – for all children. The primary resource is Talking to Kids About Race: An Introductory Guide to Supporting Healthy Ethnic-Racial Identity Development in Early Childhood (Second Edition), which draws on Dr. Eddie’s research.
The book’s central message: talking to children about race early supports healthy identity development and inclusive mindsets.

Each year, Growing Together brings neighbors, community partners, volunteers, supporters, and families together for an evening of learning, reflection, and inspiration. Through conversation and shared experiences, we explore how each of us can help build stronger, healthier communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
