On this page, we invite you to explore our impact and see how Arbor Circle is making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

2025 Impact Report

We are pleased to present Arbor Circle’s 2025 Impact Report, which showcases our organization’s achievements and progress over the past year in providing essential mental health and substance use services to individuals, families, and communities in West Michigan.

About our work

We believe that everyone deserves access to mental health and recovery services, no matter their circumstances. That commitment shapes how we show up each day—bringing support directly into homes and neighborhoods, partnering with schools, and providing counseling in our offices—to ensure care is available in the places and moments it’s needed most.

CLIENT VOICES

"From the very beginning, I felt heard, understood, and never judged. Through working together, I've made real progress with both my mental health and substance use recovery—something I wasn't sure was possible before starting this journey."
"My caseworker goes above and beyond for me, and I'm just one person on their caseload. They've really been a breath of fresh air. They care, they're very understanding, and they've been in my situation before, so I feel like they can actually relate to me."
"I just don't know what my family would have done without our therapist this year. My children tend to not be very open about their feelings, but our therapist managed to build good rapport with them and now they share more openly."

Many of our programs focus on supporting communities with limited access to health and mental health care, striving to create more balanced opportunities for wellbeing and success. Our commitment to trauma-informed care ensures that every service we provide is rooted in understanding, empathy, and cultural awareness to meet each person where they are with the support they need.

contributor spotlight: James & Barbara Haveman

Director of Development, Taylor Greenfield, sat down with James Haveman to discuss why he and his wife Barbara partnered with Arbor Circle to establish the Thomas J. Bullock Memorial Fund. Click here to learn more about the Fund.

what inspired you to establish the thomas J. Bullock memorial fund, and what legacy were you hoping to honor through it?

Barbara and I think it’s important to remember people who made a difference in our lives, be it colleagues, teachers, or parents. Thomas Bullock had a real impact on our lives. We wanted others to remember Tom and be better people for it. Tom taught me a lot about community relationships, how to work as a team, and that not everyone has to have a college degree to work in the SUD field. He taught us that we can do collective good just as humans doing the right thing. I think it’s important to remember his life, skills, hopes, and dreams. We want that memory to live on.

over the years, what impact would you like to see the lecture series have on the substance use professional community?

The goal of the fund is to bring current expertise in new treatment techniques and tools to people who are doing the hard work every day. We wanted to invite people in the field to a conversation where they can have informal time together as well—while not having to spend a ton of money on the experience and still feeling appreciated and taken care of.

why is supporting arbor circle’s mission and work in the community important to you?

I’ve watched Arbor Circle evolve over the last 30 years—it keeps getting better. It adapts to the times that we’re in by bringing new ideas, new treatment techniques, new outreaches… Arbor Circle is one of those agencies who is not afraid to tackle the tough issues of the day and it does it in a way that invites other people to participate. It makes an impact—I know that because they are measuring their outcomes, they are measuring the community outcomes, the number of youth and families served, etc. Then they report back out to the community. Arbor Circle’s work is built on relationships and staying in touch.
