contributor spotlight: Diane and darrel springett

Director of Development, Taylor Greenfield, sat down with former board member, donor, and volunteer Diane Springett to learn more about why Diane and her husband Darrel are so passionate about supporting the work of Arbor Circle.

how did you come to be involved with supporting arbor circle?

I attended a Spring Dinner and had the privilege of listening to one of the youth from The Bridge share their story. After hearing the young woman talk about her journey, I felt strongly that this was an organization that I wanted to be involved with – Arbor Circle has a powerful mission and is full of unique stories just like the one shared at the event.

why is arbor circle important to our community?

Arbor Circle reaches the underserved in our community, especially children and families. Arbor Circle provides a tremendous amount of support to those who need it most.

what values do you share with arbor circle?

There is nothing more important than families. We feel so blessed by our family and want to help others have the same level of opportunity and quality of life. With Arbor Circle, it’s all about family – there’s so many different programs serving a variety of ages from young children all the way to adults.

is there a particular program or service offering that you feel most connected to?

The Bridge of Arbor Circle provides support in an area where no one else does. Helping children and youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability get the services they need; whether that means mental health support, basic needs, education; each piece puts youth on a path toward success.

could you share a memorable volunteer experience or program interaction?

When volunteering at The Bridge to make dinner for the youth, we’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to sit down and listen to youth stories. The most impactful thing for us is that youth want to help other youth – they really want to support each other. They mentor each other, they want to give back to one another, even when they are finished in the program.

how would you encourage others to get involved in supporting arbor circle’s mission?

People want the opportunity to have an impact in someone else’s life. By volunteering, either at The Bridge or through one of the other programs, there is a lot of opportunity to really see what’s happening. By investing in these programs, with time or dollars, you can get a totally different perspective on our community.
